Capability

Cybersecurity

Security engineering across architecture, applications, cloud and automation, with controls designed into systems rather than added later.

What this capability covers

Cybersecurity here is an engineering capability applied to how systems are designed and built, rather than an assessment activity applied to them afterwards.

This capability covers secure architecture, application security engineering, cloud security engineering, security automation, engineering guardrails, delivery-pipeline security, and threat-informed design.

It is a broad engineering domain, and it is distinct from any single SIATRIX product. SIATRIX Security Engine is one product initiative within this domain, not the definition of the capability.

Typical engineering problems

  • Security arriving as a review gate at the end, once the expensive decisions have already been made.
  • Findings accumulating faster than they are fixed, because nothing changed upstream.
  • Secrets and credentials handled correctly by convention rather than by construction.
  • Cloud permissions that grew broad because narrowing them later was never scheduled.
  • A build pipeline holding more access to production than the people using it.

Engineering approach

  • Design against a threat model. Which failures matter for this system is a design input, not a checklist output.
  • Make the safe path the default. Controls implemented as guardrails hold. Controls implemented as guidance decay.
  • Secure the delivery path. The pipeline is production infrastructure and is treated as such.
  • Automate the repeatable checks. Automation handles the mechanical part so that review attention can go to design.
  • Prefer specific statements. Naming what a control does, and what it does not do, is more useful than a general assurance.
